-Your generosity-

Funders and donors

It’s incredible how generous people are in supporting us all year round! If that’s you – if you are one of our funders or donors – we’d like to say thank you for your kindness towards the young women and moms of the Des Moines metro area.

Thinking about donating?

If you are someone thinking about ways to help Alpha Women’s Center – by either donating money or items – we would sincerely appreciate it! We are 100% dependent on donor support – we receive no government funding. The services we provide are literal lifelines to some women and their families in the community. Des Moines and Ankeny have such young and growing populations so our need for your help will never change!

-Creative ideas for events and drives-

Brainstorming?

Are you part of a church or group that would like to do something extra special together for a good cause? We have some tried and tested ideas for you to consider. If any of these appeal to you or if you have other ideas – we’d love to hear them and facilitate your efforts if we can. Please Contact us so we can help.

Tried and tested ideas

DIAPER DRIVE

Last year we distributed 23,016 diapers – we can never have too many! Why not organize a diaper and wipe drive? We always need the larger sizes, especially sizes 4 to 6, but all sizes – newborn to 6 are welcome. One of the advantages of this type of drive is that kids and teenagers can get involved too!

Babies love cozy blankets (and moms, too!) and they can be fun to make. Do you know a group of people who could get together for a quilt/blanket making class? Perhaps turn it into a Ladies Night Out project? We would LOVE to receive your handmade efforts to pass on some love and warmth to babies in need.

BLANKET CLASS

BABY BOTTLE BOOMERANG

Usually, bottles are filled with milk but we have a fun use for them – collecting donations! We can supply your church with bottles for each church family. We can provide bulletin inserts to explain how to fill the bottles with cash, coins, or checks.

We usually distribute bottles to interested churches on Sanctity of Life Sunday (in January) or Mother’s Day. The bottles are collected one month later and are usually counted/processed by the church and the total sum forwarded to us as a check.

Why not make Christmas extra special this year by organizing a Christmas banquet, and ask each guest to bring a new small baby item/gift? Then as part of your celebration dinner – guests can assemble the items into new baby baskets. What a joy these baskets have been in the past for moms in our community!

Items your guests could bring include outfits, sleepers, blankets, onesies, bottles, pacifiers, rattles, baby shampoo. Enjoy getting creative!

-Volunteer with us-

Dependent on volunteers

We rely very heavily on help from volunteers to serve the women of the Des Moines metro area on behalf of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Meeting whole-woman needs

God has established our ministry to help meet the practical, emotional, and spiritual needs of women and young moms in our community. We want to share God’s supreme love and mercy with every woman we meet!

Who we are looking for

If you love the Lord Jesus, if you have a caring heart, and if you’d like to volunteer your time to something that will directly impact the lives of people in our community – Alpha Women’s Center could be right for you! We have prepared a Volunteers section to help you in your decision making. We also ask people interested in volunteering to read our Statement of Faith (pdf document) and Code of conduct page, so you are aware and agree at the outset with our spiritual beliefs and moral stance on key issues of 21st Century life.
