Social distancing can make you feel–well, distant! It certainly doesn’t feel social. It feels like you’re avoiding people, which you are. Some folks may be just fine with that. Others miss being able to get together with friends and family. I haven’t been able to hug my grandbabies in FOREVER…well, for weeks anyway.
I actually sent my daughter-in-law a video text of me singing the “I love you” song (from the old Barney TV show) to play for my grandkids. She sent back a video text of them, saying they liked it and miss me. I just don’t want them to forget me…
We all have to be creative in maintaining relationships.
At a “virtual” Skype staff meeting, we came up with an idea for reaching out to our moms. We decided that we would spend a day phoning some of our current clients to check in with them and see how they’re doing, how they are handling the situation. We would take “phone orders” for diapers, wipes, and formula–and then schedule times for parking lot pick-up. The clients would stay in their cars, and we would bring the supplies out to them.
We started that this week. It may take us several days to reach everyone, but we’re working through the list. If you are a client, and we haven’t called you yet, feel free to call us! Please leave a message, and we will get back to you a soon as we can.
Stay safe and stay well…and as the Governor says–stay home!
