I get calls at the office, questions when I speak, email inquiries—all asking the same basic question: What can I do to help?
Here are a couple of things that EVERYONE can do to help.
1-Pray.
Tucker Carlson of Fox News was at an event in Iowa sponsored by The Family Leader last year. He said, “We are watching a battle between good and evil that is playing out in spaces that we cannot see, because it is a spiritual war, not just a human war.”
This is a spiritual battle, and prayer is our primary weapon! 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 tells us that our weapons are spiritual, and they have divine power to tear down strongholds. We need to use our weapons regularly!
Have you ever prayed for God to end abortion? For lives to be saved? For eyes to be opened and hearts to be turned? (If you prayed for Roe to be overturned—wasn’t that amazing to see God answer that BIG prayer?!)
2-Speak up.
Who can you talk to? Who can you encourage to think about life—unborn life—from a biblical standpoint? Your husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, kids or grandkids, friends and neighbors (your circle of influence). Courage is contagious, so be courageous. Your words may give others the courage to also speak, and we are stronger when we stand together.
When we are silent about abortion, one of 2 things is communicated: either that it’s not a big deal and it’s acceptable, or it’s such a big deal that it’s unforgivable. Both positions are false. Abortion is a horrific sin for which the blood of Jesus Christ is absolutely sufficient! And if we don’t speak—there are other voices out there that ARE speaking…and they’re not telling the truth.
I guess I’m saying that you can talk to God, and you can talk to others. And I would recommend that you talk to God BEFORE you talk to others. 😊
